I’ve heard Dr Doug Lisle talking about the 3 day rule. What that means is that it only takes 3 days for our taste buds to get accustomed to healthier, more blunt if you will, foods.

By the way, for those of you who don’t know who Doug Lisle is, he is a clinical psychologist whose interest lies in human behaviour and more specifically – what motivates us to act in a certain way and how to win over our natural inclination to follow temptations.

Doug Lisle is also famous with talking about The Motivational Triad. What that means is, we are wired to seek:

  • Pleasure
  • Pain Avoidance
  • Conserve Energy

Eating junk food is all of these combined. It doesn’t require much effort to chew, it often melts in your mouth (Conserves Energy), it gives you pleasure, or at least this is how it is perceived due to the chemicals which are designed to hit your pleasure centres (Pleasure). Moreover, going on a diet, or avoiding “treats” of any kind is considered painful (Pain Avoidance).

How I Feel Today

I feel an extreme brain fog whole day long. I’m tired and it required a lot of effort and discipline to sit and write these few lines.

I’m really hopeful that tomorrow I will feel much better.

Lets see.
